Max Neuhaus: Times Square, Time Piece Beacon

A new book on the late musician and sound artist...

New York's Dia Art Foundation has recently published a book about musician and pioneer sound artist Max Neuhaus, who died in February 2009. Max Neuhaus: Times Square, Time Piece Beacon, focuses on two of his public sound works Times Square and Time Piece Beacon, installations based on a 1977 piece where Neuhaus installed speakers underneath sidewalk grating on a triangle of pedestrian space between 45th and 46th streets in Times Square. The book also includes essays by Lynne Cooke, The Wire's Christoph Cox, Branden W. Joseph, Liz Kotz and Alex Potts, as well as a conversation between Neuhaus's friends Peter Pakesch and Ulrich Loock.
