Mark Fell, (included in The Wire's Below The Radar Volume 6), has released a series of six mixtapes on his site. The mixes are the result of a request from an anthropologist at Oxford University for Fell to document his musical development, and as such includes tracks on the basis of when Fell discovered them, starting in 1981. The mixtapes are available to stream online.
Fell says: "I met [the anthropologist] Georgina through research I'm working on at the University of York, looking at non-academic computer musics. The idea of doing a personal musical journey like this appealed to me because the music I make refers very heavily to its history. The new double 12" I've just completed for Editions Mego shows the influence of many of the tracks included in the mixes - I'm getting more and more interested in the musical journeys people took through the 80s and 90s."
