New York-based young composers organisation Mata (founded by Philip Glass, Eleonor Sandresky, and Lisa Bielawa) has an open call for proposals from curators for its Interval 5.0 concert series. The Interval series gives curators a chance to program an event at the Issue Project Room in Brooklyn. The trio of Interval 5.0 events are scheduled for 26 October 2011, 21 December 2011, and 8 March 2012.
Mata asks for proposals that engage other areas of art and culture, in particular dance, and which include works by composers under 40, electronic and digital media, or small ensembles of up to five players. Applicants must co-ordinate the event, develop PR materials and organise coverage, and write blogs, press releases, mailouts and more. Artist fees for the proposed event must not exceed $1200.
Applications should include a CV, an explanation of the curatorial concept, and contain a list of potential artists and topics for discussion around the event. For more info email interval[at]matafestival.org.
