Big batch of Can news today, as plans for two box sets, two art exhibitions, and a 40th anniversary reissue of Tago Mago emerge. Tago Mago will be reissued on 14 November, packaged with a bonus CD of remastered live material, and featuring the original UK artwork (which has not been used in the UK since 1971).
Next year two box sets will be released. The first, a box set of all 14 studio albums, is planned for early next year (no specific dates yet), and will come with LP and CD versions of all 14 albums, booklets, a vinyl only live album, and vinyl only remastered version of Out Of Reach. Pre-orders open in October. A second box set, The Lost Tapes, is scheduled for March 2012, and will contain a collection of unreleased material curated by Can founder Irmin Schmidt and Daniel Miller.
As part of the Tago Mago anniversary, galleries in Stuttgart and Berlin will be hosting Halleluwah!, "a visual homage to Can", with contributions from Albert Oehlen, Daniel Richter, Malcolm Mooney, Carsten Nicolai and more. Stuttgart Abtart Gallery (16 September–5 November), Berlin Künstlerhaus Bethanien (24 November–18 December).
