Triple Point are releasing a five LP box set by the short lived mid-1960s improvising ensemble The New York Art Quartet, of music recorded between 1964–65. The release, titled Call It Art, contains four hours of music from six sessions. The Quartet comprised John Tchicai, Roswell Rudd, and Milford Graves, plus a rotating cast of collaborators.
Call It Art comes with a hardcover book in a wooden box, and also includes playing by Lewis Worrell, Reggie Workman, Amiri Baraka, JC Moses and others. More details forthcoming on the Triple Point site.
