Watch Dani Gal's version of Krapp's Last Tape

July 2012

Watch a take of Krapp's Last Tape, Samuel Beckett's one man stage play, produced by Dani Gal, featured in The Wire 342.

Krapp's Last Tape, which follows an ageing man as he listens back to tape recordings he's made of himself throughout his life, was written by the Irish playwright Samuel Beckett in 1958. Here, Gal's version uses the original script (50 minutes) but in it the artist has placed contact mics throughout the set so as to amplify the actor Steve Ellery's movements as he performs.

The play was staged at London's Zabludowicz Collection, 12 April 2012. Gal is featured in an article by Zakia Uddin in The Wire 342.
