A new translation of Italian composer Ferruccio Busoni's Sketch Of A New Aesthetic Of Music. The essay, written in 1907, looks to the future of music as one where it was freed from the conventions of the time. As well as a composer and concert pianist, Busoni was also tutor to a number of notable students: Edgard Varèse, Kurt Weill, Stefan Wolpe and Arnold Schoenberg, among others.

This new translation includes an introduction to the book by The Wire contributor and writer Adam Harper, and the poetic epilogue "The Realm Of Music", that Busoni wrote to his wife.
