"3.9.2004"
from the release Benacah Drann Deachd
Berlin based Chris Douglas (aka OST/Rook Vallard) was raised in
the California Bay Area. Introduced to the all-night rave scene in
the early 1990s, he worked with the Spacetime Crew to organise the
first Techno/Ambient parties in San Francisco, which played host to
guests including Ritchie Hawtin and µ-Ziq. In 1992 Douglas moved to
Detroit and recorded his first EP, Basilar, under the name
OST. His debut album Death Notice was released on Phthalo
in 1998.
In 2002 Douglas opened for Autechre on the US leg of the
Confield tour. Autechre also invited Douglas to perform at
All Tomorrow’s Parties, which resulted in a relocation to Berlin in
2004. Benacah Drann Deachd is a collection of unreleased
Dalglish tracks recorded between 2001–2011.
