Track 4

"ANTONOV-26"
from the forthcoming release Siberian Field Recordings
Carlos Casas writes:
"This track is part of Siberian Field Recordings, a
forthcoming album compiling the field recordings captured on
location in Chukotka, Siberia. The work features the sound recorded
inside a cabin of an Antonov-26 plane (AN-26), a Russian military
airplane used for civil operators in Chukotka.Recorded during a
journey from Anadyr and Lavrentia, this four hour trip became a
sonic experience like no other. The sound inside the cabin was so
loud and hypnotic that the majority of people felt in a sort of
audio induced sleep, somehow paralysed by the overlapping
frequencies of all the jolting bolts of the airplane dancing
together, to the continuous rhythm of the strong twin engine turbo
propellers, at 400 km/h and at 25,000 ft of cabin pressure, your
ears were at the mercy of this old airplane, somehow in a pure
estate of flotation I manage to grab my camera and record the sound
with my Audiotecnica AT835ST microphone. We can only hear the
voices of the pilots and crew, the passengers are sound asleep. I
was totally in a trance the whole way and the journey became one of
the most amazing sonic experience of my life."
