Artist statement:

"Some of These Mutations Are Favourable" is a live recording from the Red Night Variations series. In 2012 my label Broken20 (broken20.com) released my Red Night album and I've been preoccupied since with performing versions of it live - first in a tiny tenement flat gallery in Glasgow with Paul Purgas of Emptyset, and then in London, first in an NCP car park and finally in the Elgar Room of the Royal Albert Hall at the behest of The Wire. A further cassette and DVD are going to be released late this year with some of these recordings; with this track, recorded on the train from London to Glasgow, an out-take that didn't quite fit stylistically.
