Artist statement:

"Poor Old Horse" is based on a poem I found in a scrapbook from 1791 called "Poor Awd Horse", which came with a suggested tune of Miss Glen. I could find nothing of that tune so made up my own and rewrote the words. At the end of the original there is a sort of celebration of these three men who killed the horse, how bold and brave they were! My version ends a little differently - though I hope the tone is still celebratory, in a fashion.
