This is the first release from a series of recordings of the White Piano. The White Piano is made of the remains of an upright well-tempered piano. It is re/de-tuned and heavily prepared. The recording of the acoustic white piano is then cut and spliced and diffused. It is recommended to listen to this track through headphones.

Maya Dunietz was born in Tel Aviv in 1981. Her work ranges between solo performances, composing for ensembles and the theater, creating sound installations and building small electronic instruments. She is active in the improvisation scene in Israel for many years and collaborates with leading musicians like John Edwards, Steve Noble, Susan Alcorn and Ghedalia Tazartes. Her music starts from the fundamental idea that sound is movement in space and that music is a real action happening in real time.
