Below The Radar exclusive
Drew Mulholland is composer in residence with the School Of Geographical & Earth Sciences at the University Of Glasgow.
Talking about "How To Consecrate An Imaginary Circle"—a track which was scored for piano and vibraphone—Mulholland says "'How To Consecrate An Imaginary Circle' was created using magickal symbols from the 1665 edition of Reginald Scot's The Discovery of Witchcraft in which Scot describes the symbols as having the power to act as a conduit between man and the genni locurum (the spirit of a place). These symbols or sigils represent the human relationship with the world and place within it."
On this recording is:
Jennifer MacRitchie - piano
Jemma Stewart - vibraphone
Recorded by John Cavanagh in the University of Glasgow memorial chapel.
