Smut is the solo project of musician and artist Lucy Johnson. Her output varies from minimal lo-fi piano to catastrophic noise. When describing her performance she quotes Newcastle's Tusk festival who said her work amounted to "the caustic shards and the kind of drones that can raze your mental city to the ground."

Johnson works collaboratively with artist Rachel Lancaster and "Radiant Road" was the soundtrack for Lancaster's short film, Voicings, shown at Workplace Gallery, Gateshead, in 2013. Smut's most recent release Piano Two was released by the UK-based DIY label Quagga Curious Sounds.
