"Wicked Leaders"

From the release Wicked Leaders

King Ayisoba and his band play a 21st century version of the traditional Kologo music from the upper east region of Ghana - the Kologo being a two-string guitar with a calabash gourd resonator. King Ayisoba sings in Frafra, Twi and English.

Arnold de Boer (The Ex) who released Wicked Leaders on Makkum Records in 2014, says:

“There is a whole new scene now starting after King Ayisoba introduced the super catchy Kologo beats to the bigger audiences in Ghana and abroad. The King is bringing other musicians and dancers on this tour, dancing the traditional Frafra dia and Kologo dances from the area of Bongo in Northern Ghana. The dance consists of very high jumps and originates from hunting rituals.

Traditionally Kologo performances occur at local Pito bars, weddings, funerals, festivals or spontaneous jams on the street. Today we will see the force and spirit here, around the corner, learn wise lessons and dig up the future.”

Talking of the song "Wicked Leaders", King Ayisoba says:

"I wrote this song about 1.5 year ago. It is not only about the president or politicians. It is also for landlords and managers. People should take care because they are the people's father." He continues: “Wicked leaders is a song for every leader who doesn’t treat his people well. It’s not meant for presidents alone but people who head companies, schools, unions & even in our various homes.”
