The Crying Lion are a singing group from Glasgow featuring Alex Neilson and Lavinia Blackwall (both of Trembling Bells) and Harry Campbell and Katy Cooper of Muldoon’s Picnic. The Golden Boat also features Mike Hastings on electric guitar and Allan Wright on hurdy gurdy.

About the track, Crying Lion state: “This song is loosely inspired by a Spanish traditional song about a bull who falls in love with the moon. On spying the lunar body reflected in a pool of water, he tries to approach it but is overcome with self-revulsion and sadness when he notices his own reflection and realises that he will never possess the moon.”
