Track 8

"Cstrn Exercise 10"

Unreleased

High Wolf has been creating his own mix of world music, electronic research and psychedelic experimentations since debuting in 2009 on Not Not Fun. Since then he has released albums on various labels (Holy Mountain, Rocket Recordings, Leaving Records) and toured across the globe, from Japan to USA, from Brazil to Russia, China or Australia.

The man behind High Wolf has created many other projects, including the futuristic Black Zone Myth Chant. Various BZMC releases came out on Low Jack's label Editions Gravats, including 2015's Mane Thecel Phares and the recently published Jimi W 12" (February 2016).

This High Wolf piece is part of a series of modular synthesizer real time improvisations / no overdub exercises. The idea was to search for organic textures (bells, gong, flute, skin percussion-like sounds) and primitive rhythmic patterns with the use of synthesis. Like a retranscription of ethnic music with machines, or some imaginary field recordings of ritual music from outer space.

A collection of those improvisations will be released this spring on tape on young french label Consternation. Before that a Durian Brothers / High Wolf split 12" will be released on Diskant.
