"Biancamo"
From Obbatuké In Edinburgh
Led by quinto player Carlos Guerra, Obbatuké are an eight piece rumba group from Santiago de Cuba. The band are mainstays at the Casa del Caribe, widely regarded as the epicentre for Cuba’s eastern rumba scene, with its strong cultural connection to Haiti. They were a huge inspiration at this year’s Manana, Cuba’s first international festival project, collaborating with Plaid, Quantic, Nicolas Jaar and Ariwo. Co-produced by Guy Morley (No-Nation) and Harry Follett (Manana), this session was recorded at Castlesound Studios in Edinburgh on the band’s first trip outside Cuba. Now available on Soundcloud, the LP will be released on vinyl later this year by Lobster Theremin.
