Sofheso is the nom de guerre of Toru Iioka, under which name he makes music where experimental and linear rhythms intersect. Made mainly on hardware equipment, he achieves a satisfyingly stunted fidelity through which he revolves his music’s innumerable textural and rhythmic possibilities. Iioka started out in 2005 playing bass and samplers in Qodibop, from Sapporo, capital of Japan’s northernmost main island Hokkaido. He has previously released works through Bataskiya Tapes and the Japanese labels Yuritona and BirdFriend.
