Sylvia Hallett is a multi-instrumentalist and composer moving between violin, Hardanger fiddle, saw, hurdy-gurdy, accordion, bowed bicycle wheel, bowed vines and branches, and electronics. She works with musicians: Elaine Mitchener (on Sweet Tooth), Mike Cooper, Clive Bell, Anna Homler, Chris Dowding, Evan Parker, David Toop; dancers: h2dance, Miranda Tufnell, Eva Karczag; and theatre: RSC, Opera North, Wonderful Beast. She also plays with the band The Heliocentrics. In 2015 she was commissioned by the Livio Felluga Wine Company to create and perform a solo site-specific work on a hill in an Italian vineyard, where she incorporated the bowing of grapevines, a technique which she has since developed further. Tree Time is her fourth solo album.
