Obay Alsharani is a Syrian migrant now settled in Sweden. He started producing music back in 2013 in his homeland, gaining a dedicated following on Soundcloud under the name Khan El Rouh.

Inspired by the beauty of the Swedish landscape, the shifting colours of the Northern Lights, and the ambient sounds that had brought him comfort during this turbulent time – C418's Minecraft soundtrack, Boards Of Canada and Colleen, among others – Alsharani embarked on the production of the calming and sheltering music that became his debut album Sandbox. The producer also started to experiment with visual art, particularly video feedback art in particular, stills from which make up Sandbox’s artwork.
