Vienna based band HUUUM is the futurist folk project of vocalist Omid Darvish, electronicist Rojin Sharafi and saxophonist Álvaro Collao León

The band aim to reinterpret folklore in the present and envision its role in the future, recognising folklore as a potent source of a community’s emotions – rage, desire, and sorrow. HUUUM sees various dialects, dances, and tunes as a form of revolution, preserving elements that may one day be lost.

The region known as Iran today, where both Sharafi and Darvish are from – is a mosaic of diverse cultures and languages. HUUUM's members express curiosity about delving into the music of this region, exploring its evolution through time, landscapes, history and experimentalism.
