Lao Dan is an experimental improvisor and multi-instrumentalist, performing mainly on dizi and saxophone. His music blends rock, noise, experimental sounds and Chinese folk. Over the past decade, he has performed widely across China, the US, Japan and Europe, collaborating with international artists and releasing over 20 albums. He has worked with groups including Red Scarf, TuTu Duo, TuTu Noise, bBb & bBb and Lijiang Quintet. In 2024 he was artist in residence at the Copenhagen Jazz Festival.
