Track 5
"Esfregar O Limão Por Dentro E Por Fora" (feat. Ava Rocha & Metá Metá)
From the release Desgosto
Bemônio is the project from the Rio-based artists Paulo Caetano, Gustavo Matos and Eduardo Manso. Describing the project, Novas Frequências say, “the trio digs into clatters, distortions, glitches and feedbacks to create dense enclosures of extreme sound, intended to cause discomfort and to lead into a kind of ritualistic, sectarian, trance. 2013’s Santo and 2014’s Opus Dei widened up Bemônio’s palette of dark tones, expanding its possibilities of musical horror and invasion, and, in this year’s Desgosto, the use of improvisational elements increased to the point of transmuting their sound to a kind of free form doom metal, or just free jazz oriented drone music.
Featured in this track, there’s Ava Rocha, daughter of Brazilian filmmaker Glauber Rocha and a notable figure as an explorative musician coming from the MPB tradition, and Metá Metá, a band that creates an African-influenced fusion of jazz and punk rock.
