The first incarnation of the Polish group Księżyc was active in the 1990s; the second returned into being to perform shows all over Poland after the UK label Penultimate Press reissued their one and only 1996 album. Both incarnations of the group include Agata Harz (vocals), Katarzyna Smoluk (vocals, piano), Robert Nizinski (wind instruments, keyboards), Lechoslaw Polak (accordion, keyboards, synthesizers) and Remigiusz Mazur Hanaj (lyrics, tapes). The spirit of Księżyc draws on early and late medieval music. Rooted in the Slavic tradition, their sound combines elements of minimalism and 20th century vocal experiments.
