Having spent the past decade working as bandleader for Jack Adaptor and as a session player, Christopher Cordoba wanted to explore new musical territory in the form of solo guitar based sound collages. “I wanted to have the freedom to sustain moods and draw the listener in with drones, alternate tunings, new tonality, unusual techniques and abstraction but also retain dynamics and harmony, hence the title The Static And The Swerve. Both my records have been constructed from a fear of never again having the opportunity to make a musical statement, which, in its own way, has been very empowering.”
