Christiaan Virant is a Beijing based musician and media artist. He is best known for the design and production of the Buddha Machine loop player. Described as a “weird, mesmerizing, beautifully useless thing” by The New York Times in 2005, this portable music box has earned global praise for its unique integration of product design and sound art. The fourth generation of the Buddha Machine was released in 2012, featuring loops taken from Virant’s solo album, Fistful Of Buddha.
