Phog masheeen is a sound art/video collective from Costa Mesa,
California that uses aerophones, idiophones and electronics for
performance and sound design. Audio performances are accompanied by
live mixed video. Core members William Almas and Mark Soden Jr play
homebrewed instruments,
everyday objects and extended techniques involving dry ice. “The
Time Between Eruptions” began life as a recording of a live set at
the Wonder Valley Experimental Festival in 2012. Additional
performers on this set were Dr Kaplan on household percussion and
Eric Strauss on his self-designed instrument, The Shambler.
