Norwegian jazz trio KNYST! play everything from simple pulsating riffs to more complex conceptual structures, and on this basis the trio explore the interface
between composition and total freedom. Kasper Værnes’s intense sax and clarinet
lines, spiralling phrasing and motivic improvisations are challenged by Christian Meaas Svendsen’s bass, and it all centres around Andreas Wildhagen’s flexible,
fractured, hard-driving beat. The common denominator binding it all together is freedom, openness and a spirit of play.
