A founding member of Australian techno group Infusion, Ben Askins gave up music production around the turn of the millennium, but got the bug again the night he pulled out one of his old drum machines. As Genlevel, he’s turned out a string of albums, EPs and singles that nod to classic acid, techno and house, much of it produced during the 90 minute commute between his home and Sydney. The original version of “Light Year” features on his new album Back 2 Basics, released earlier this year on 4-4-2.
