Nour Soska and Andro El Hawy belong to a third generation of musicians rising out of Cairo’s vibrant electro shaabi scene. Hawy’s name means magician in Egyptian dialect; Soska is a 22 year old producer and DJ. Together, the duo have devised a different instrumental approach to electro shaabi’s familiar form, the twist in their beats restoring an element of surprise to dancers now thrown out of step and forced to listen to the music anew. “Marmagha” is from a forthcoming release on 100copies.
