As rhein_strom, Thomas M Siefert and Lasse-Marc Riek take a formal approach to creating soundscapes that privileges the actual sound and visual recording of a specific situation ahead of any artistic intentions or desires they might impose on the way people experience it. Over the last seven years the duo have carried out a close examination of the ambient sound and “sound entity” that is the river Rhine by patching together recordings made at various different locations during the changing seasons.
