Described as a collection of ‘recloaked’ classical pieces, Epicycle is the debut solo album of múm co-founder Gyda Valtysdottir. It reflects her background in both indie music (she toured worldwide and made several records with múm) and classical (a student at St Petersburg’s Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory, she obtained a double masters in music). She has previously worked with Josephine Foster, Kronos Quartet, Colin Stetson, Skúli Sverrisson, Ólöf Arnalds, Jónsi, Ben Frost, visual artist Ragnar Kjartansson and film maker Guy Maddin.
