Formed in 2003, Scandinavian ensemble Sekten set out to redefine the traditional relationship between performer and audience. Embedding Swedish lyrics in spontaneous songforms, they wear costumes and disguises, use car headlights for stage lighting, improvise ballet dancing solos, and give spectators bells to ring rather than clap. Their 2017 album Music For Exercise – Headband does exactly what it says on the tin.
