After serving time in experimental duos, electronic funk bands and Britpop inspired groups, Atli Bollason temporarily abandoned music to pursue his interests in literature, theory and media arts. The Fivefiles EP not only marks his return to music, it’s also his debut as Allenheimer, an old moniker he originally adopted to evoke a German DJ. Here, Bollason’s starting points were his deconstructions of little known Icelandic pop songs, through which he aimed to amplify the haunted qualities he sensed in them.
