Recorded at Pisa Jazz festival in 2016, “The Rent” is from Pipeline 8’s album dedicated to the music of saxophonist Steve Lacy. “I think it’s important to play Steve Lacy’s music today and that we have to take the risk,” says bass clarinettist and percussionist Giancarlo Nino Locatelli. “Keeping his example alive means to me always to question the results achieved... Steve, like the masters who preceded him, asks us to find a way to (re)play his music.”
