Originally from Ras Al Ain in northeastern Syria, composer, musician and producer Rizan Said has worked on hundreds of Syrian records as well as composing soundtracks and themes for television and cinema. He used to perform on percussion and reed instruments before being turned on by the synthesizers that flooded into Syria in the late 1980s and early 90s. Said’s recent performances have introduced his native dabke dance sounds to European audiences.
