The Germany based Japanese duo WaqWaq Kingdom are Shigeru Ishihara (DJ Scotch Egg/Seefeel) and Kiki Hitomi (King Midas Sound). They describe their music as “minyo footwork” – minyo being the Japanese translation of Volkslied (German for people’s song) – combining imagery from Japanese mythology with Jamaican dancehall, 8-bit techno, African polyrhythms and electronic music.
