On The Art Ensemble Of Chicago’s expansive 50th anniversary set, founding members Roscoe Mitchell and drummer Famoudou Don Moye not only pay tribute to their late colleagues Lester Bowie, Malachi Favors and Joseph Jarman, the album also sees them working with a broad range of musicians including Moor Mother, trumpeters Fred Berry and Hugh Ragin, who have played with Mitchell for over four decades, bassist Jaribu Shahid, cellist Tomeka Reid and flautist Nicole Mitchell.
