Chicago based saxophonist and organiser Dave Rempis is known for the huge sound he generates on his instrument, and his extensive work presenting contemporary music in his hometown. In winter 2018, drummer Paal Nilssen-Love was in Chicago after finishing a US tour, and he and Rempis, frequent collaborators over the last 15 years, planned a duo concert. They were joined by cellist Tomeka Reid, and trumpeter and saxophonist Joe McPhee, a longstanding collaborator with Nilssen-Love as a duo and as a guest with The Thing. New York bassist Brandon Lopez rounded out this quintet performing in an intimate live setting.
