23 was bushpilot’s experiment in spontaneous composition. 25 years ago, the band spent Sundays in the studio developing themes rather than songs and recording live to tape. In 2018 they revisited the tapes in an old mill in Leeds and edited them to create the collage-like album 23 inspired by German kosmische, post-punk, 1960s proto-punk and filtered through Saturday night techno.
