Masayoshi Fujita’s latest album Bird Ambience sees the Japanese multi-percussionist and composer unite previously disparate creative facets – acoustic solo recordings, the electronic dub made under his El Fog alias, and improvisations with contemporaries such as Jan Jelinek – for the first time on one record. After recording the triptych Stories (2012), Apologues (2015) and Book Of Life (2018) on his signature instrument, the vibraphone, this time he places the marimba at centre stage.
