Anton Dvoenko of Gamayun, whose album Filterealism was released by Gost Zvuk in 2020, and Vasiliy Shilov make up the duo Dubovaya Kolesnitsa (The Oaken Chariot), a project designed to adapt roots music to Russia (the Gost Zvuk label is “is dedicated exclusively to the Russian and ex-USSR scene”). The Russian word for oak is dub, and chariot refers to the word for the duo’s jams (telega) which can translate as cart. All the music originates in live improvisations using only instruments, no samples, notably Shilov’s bass.
