Making full use of extended sampling techniques to reconfigure and manipulate audio sourced from found materials, William Bissex’s recent album Goldust is the latest in an ongoing series exploring his relationship with appropriation and the role of aleatory processes as a compositional tool. Selecting materials which evoke, distort and betray memory, the London based composer aims to create work that veers towards abstraction, with disorientating, hypnotic yet playful qualities.
