Formed in 2001, The Observatory have confronted both the realities of life in their native Singapore and a wider global milieu through a restless succession of styles ranging from folk electronica to prog and avant rock. In their current line-up of Cheryl Ong, Yuen Chee Wai and Dharma, The Observatory have been moving into more atonal and improvised territory, teaming up with Japanese sound artist and film composer Koichi Shimizu on Demon State.
