"Ah Lusialala"
From Balka Sound
Fronted by Nkibi Albert, a Ngonfi player from southern Congo-Brazzaville who had scored the solo hit “Ah Lusialala”, Balka Sound were created to bring the Beembe folk style balka to an international audience. They released three albums between 1979–85, before their career was disrupted by the outbreak of civil war in the early 1990s. Balka Sound eventually returned and in 1996 performed at the Fête National; unfortunately when fighting resumed in 1997 the group disbanded after their studio was looted.
