A Lily is the project of musician James Vella. He is also a founding member of post-rock group yndi halda and has run the Phantom Limb label from its inception in 2017. Since 2020, Vella has turned to synthesis and electronic instrumentation, and Saru l-Qamar combines this with fragments of archive recordings sent by Maltese emigrants to their families, now in the care of the Magna Żmien foundation.
