In his lifetime Finnish composer Osmo Lindeman (1929–87) amassed a catalogue including concert music alongside compositions for film and television, performance art, exhibitions and commercials. In 1968 he ceased composing orchestral works and built one of Finland’s earliest private electronic music studios in order to fully pursue tape composition. “Ritual” won first prize in the electronic music category of the 1972 International Musical Composition Contest organised by the International Society of Contemporary Music.
