Los Gigantes Dormidos were established by brothers Marius Houschyar and Fabio Levi and their friends Mazatl and Mich. During the winter of 2022–23 the group recorded music in gardens in central and western Mexico, combining local flutes and percussion, bass guitar, synthesizer and a Persian santoor, with improvised lyrics in Nahuatl, Spanish and English. Drawing inspiration from ancestral culture and the natural environment, their music also features in the 2023 documentary La Escondida.
