Double bassist Jonathan Bäckström was born in Kruunupyy, Finland, and currently works in Helsinki as a musician, composer and teacher. His free improvising quartet with fellow Nordic musicians Marcus Wärnheim (alto sax/bass clarinet), Adele Sauros (tenor sax) and Benjamin Nylund (drums) released their debut album in May. As well as playing solo, Bäckström also performs in various formations with musicians including Ida Alanen, Benjamin Faconnier and Mathias Sandberg.
